Late Night Blogging with Devin Hoon

I'm having one of those nights where I'm not exactly sure what I should be doing at the moment. I've taken a 3 hr nap today and now I'm trying to stay up late enough that I won't have trouble getting to sleep once I get into bed.

As usual, this blog has no real format or theme at the moment, so I think I'll blog randomly about a few different points:

- one of my plans for today (Tuesday) was to go and get my guitar restrung at a music store. I'm not exactly sure how long/much the process is, or if they even do it in stores without any appointments. Still, after playing a bit with Amber's guitar on Sunday, I'm really looking forward to having some coated strings. Also she recommended that I get new strings because even though the guitar is less than a year old, it could have been played many times at the music store and the factory strings could be pretty cheap. Good enough reason for me, I just wonder if I can get into the store and be done before work rolls around.

- I found a random packet of Chocolate Pocky in my school bag. So I started eating it 2 minutes ago. It's great. I love finding random stuff when you're not expecting it.

- I've applied for the same job that Chris is doing right now. Here's hoping I can get it, because a regular 40 hr schedule would definitely be welcome, instead of my gay shifts that I'm getting right now.

- The person I'm going out with babysits for Terry Paranych. I thought that was the funniest thing ever given my history with making Paranych references... God is funny sometimes hehe...

- I'm in the process of setting up the digital picture frame that the guys got me for my birthday (thanks guys). I never realized that I needed so many memory cards for my devices. I already have one for my phone, and my camera, and now I'll need to get another one for the frame. Boy, I wish I worked at Futureshop still...

- I've realized that more and more Facebook friends of mine are blogging or making 'notes' that are actually personalized and blog related. What I mean by this is that they're not just making new notes and filling out a thousand different surveys about what they just ate. I've been taking the time to read some of these notes and blogs, and I must say it's interesting to finally see these kind of posts.

- It seems like Indiana Jones fest everwhere I looked this weekend. Of course this makes sense with the new movie being released, but I still never realized that EVERYONE would be watching them during the long weekend. I did catch the first one, minus the first half hour, but it was still pretty good. I don't quite know what to think of it after finally seeing it. There's so much hype about that series and about the character himself, it really is impossible for both of them to match that kind of reputation (especially when the movie is 20 or so years old).

- I took a walk with this girl I've been seeing around a local lake during the long weekend. While going around, I saw my parents walking the opposite direction towards us as they were also taking a walk. It was one of those really funny awkward movie moments because I never really expected to see my parents there and then. I thought it was pretty funny afterwards.

- I saw the 2nd Narnia film, "Prince Caspian" and I was thoroughly surprised with a number of things. The first being that the theatre was so empty for an opening night of the movie especially during a long weekend. And the second thing that surprised me was that it was really enjoyable for me. I tend to be really tough on kid type movies because well I'm not the target market. However, I did enjoy this film, maybe it was because it was more violent. Who knows..

- I did end up giving blood last Friday. All in all, it was a really good experience. It amazed me at how friendly and thankful the nurses are to anyone whose coming in to donate. This experience really contrasted my initial thought of how it was going to be. I had always thought that it would just be one of those things where they just push you onto the next person in more of a 'let's get this over with' kind of tone. But I didn't feel that at all when I went in on Friday. The nurses and admin. were awesome and very courteous and careful to be sure that I was comfortable and everything. By the end of it all, they pampered me and thanked me so many times for coming in that I felt like a hero. I think I could get used to giving blood. Oh! And I also beat one of my friend's all-time record for giving blood. I did it in 7 Minutes and 6 Seconds. It was great... Now I'm just waiting for my donor card so I know what blood type I am, and I think I have to wait a couple months before my platelets and stuff mature so I can give blood again. Also, thanks to Robin, I realized that you CAN receive your own blood. She told me that she knew firsthand, so my theory could actually work afterall.

- I really don't like that Madonna / JT song '4 minutes'. I think it was forced and it injected an artificial club theme to it, even though I don't think Madonna can pull it off at all. I'll admit that the beat is catchy, but I think the video tries to be too edgy and cool considering how old Madonna is these days...

- Scarlett Johansson is coming out with a CD today. That should be interesting.. I'm actually surprised at how good some actresses are at singing. I remember hearing some of Jennifer Love Hewitt's stuff (oh yes, she has a cd. Two in fact), and it wasn't too bad.

- I had this customer at work whose been a complete pain in the ass. She's bought this new phone from us called the Nokia N95. I'd link it right now, but I'm too lazy. Anyway, this phone is a powerhouse with a 5 MP camera, 8 GB built in Hard drive, and other cool features. In fact the phone is the most popular phone outside of North America. But this girl returned the phone, not once, but twice based on bogus issues. "The speaker keeps going from loud to soft..." Umm I don't hear that happening at all. Fine whatever, we'll exchange it. That was last Friday and it took me a good hour and a half to finish the stupid exchange. Then she has the audacity to come in last night (Long weekend Monday) and return the new phone AGAIN! "Umm yeah, when I switch applications, these lines come up. And sometimes it takes time for the icons to disappear" Oookay...... that's what happens when you switch applications, lines appear and disappear hence you switching applications. I don't get it.. "Yeah my brother is a programmer and he says it's not healthy and a phone shouldn't do that" Riiight......... your brother is a programmer and he somehow has the authority to declare that lines are a bad thing.... You're retarded.. Go swallow a knife, lady. The only reason why I would think that it takes like half a second for those lines to disappear is because she keeps switching between screens so rapidly. Thus, a phone isn't meant to be a RAM powerhouse, and it probably needs to pull the app from the hard drive over and over again, causing the slight delay.

... I hate customers sometimes. I can't wait to not have to deal with their stupidity.

The point form blogs actually work really well. helps switch topics and doesn't seem as scattered to me as it could be.
