It's been a long time (long time)...

Yeah so it has been a while since I last blogged. Honestly, I'm not even really in the mood to blog now, but there is a lot to talk about. So as per my usual routine, I'm gonna break this down into a random point formed blog for the most part: (after writing this list, I've realized how ambitious my plans for summer are).

- I've been constantly thinking about purchasing this really nice bike from Candian Tire. It's usually 400 bucks, but it's half off at 200 bucks now. At first the prospect a law legally forcing me to wear a helmet really discouraged me, but I realized that it's only enforceable to minors. Now I just have to really think through my budget and all the upcoming big expenses that are coming up.

- New Macbooks are scheduled for June. I'm more on the unlikely side that I'm gonna get one because of the money situation.

- I started playing some Tennis again last Sunday. I learnt the hard way that I suck. Hope to get some more gametime going on during the summer to improve on this.

- Basketball playoffs are intense! I want to watch every match-up going on right now. Celtics and Cavs, Hornets and Spurs, Lakers and Jazz, ALL intense! All of the teams involved have some bigtime stars who you can count on to shine and really make the game interesting. Personally, I'd like any team to take it all except for Jazz and Spurs mainly because they're kinda boring.

- Work has been blah. I've had no motivation to do anything since there's next to no traffic coming through that mall and my work hours are inconsistent and crappy. I will say though that it is a lot of fun working with all of my co-workers except for my manager. My manager has been actually getting better and easier to work with, but he's got a long way to go still. What's cool though is that I've met some really cool people who work at the Game On sports next door. So whenever I'm bored, I'll sneak off into their store to watch whatever game they're covering or make small talk. I think that's the big thing I missed about working at a mall, the sense of community you have with the other shops. I know a lot of really cool people who work at the mall now, so that's good.

- Guitar has kind of slowed down. I think I've currently hit that slump where no specific song interests me enough to learn it. I know how to play enough of the songs I do like, so the guitar is kinda just sitting there at the moment. But I am excited to jam with my friend Amber this Sunday after church. I think jam sessions in general always get you excited to pick up the guitar again because it shows you how much some other people know and how far you have yet to go.

- I stopped following the NHL playoffs pretty much after the Canadians were eliminated. So yeah.

- Kanye is coming up quicker than I thought. I'm excited, but like Foo Fighters, I feel so unprepared! I'm a firm believer that you need to know the songs/lyrics in order to enjoy a concert to the fullest. I think this was confirmed with concerts such as John Mayer, Justin Timberlake, K-OS, Bryan Adams.

- My friend Melina offered to teach me how to drive a stick this month. I'm very grateful and surprised actually because her car is brand new. Usually people don't want others to learn stick on a good car, seeing as it might mess with the transmission. I'm grateful either way.

- I'm currently helping oversee the drama ministry at the church. It's more involved than I thought, but I'm so glad that we can finally get the organization and passion in the ministry that me and Kevin had always craved.

- I'm not getting to play nearly as much basketball as I was hoping. I think the harsh reality of everyone working during the daytime never really came to my mind when I first thought of this pipedream back in Winter. I'm definitely taking advantage of any opportunity I get to play on Saturdays now though. Speaking of which, I kicked ass at basketball last Saturday. I'm pretty proud of myself and all the shots that I made during those games. Maybe I am actually getting better?

- I'm currently trying to reload my new ipod with all the music my old one used to have. It's a lengthy process that involves downloading any lost songs, looking for album art, and making sure everything is organized. My method is that I started on the letter A and I'm working my way through the alphabet. I'm currently on the letter M. However, there are big artists I need to incorporate completely still like Jay-Z, Ja Rule, etc. I also realized that a lot of big artists names start with J, so that was a tough letter to get through.

- I'm actually making coffee/lunch appointments with people to catch up on old times. People I haven't seen in months or years I'm actually scheduling things with, which is still blowing my mind. So I've got a few exciting weeks ahead of me as I get to hang out with some cool people once again. I should be sure to take some pictures.

- I'd like to say I started writing scripts, but I haven't really. I'm more just developing and fleshing out funny and strange ideas I'd previously had. But I guess this is just one step closer to getting to the writing.

- Working out sucks. I have absolutely zero motivation to goto the gym, and any workout attempts at home end hopelessly. I just don't have the endurance/pain threshold I once had for working out, so it becomes very easy to get discouraged or gassed quickly.

- I'm hoping to learn to cook a few new recipes this summer. My hopes are to pull off delicious and easy looking recipes off the internet and try to cook them during the day. I've realized how small my repetoire of cooking expertise was, so I hope this'll help.

- I bumped my text msgs from 125 per month to 2500 per month. And I only pay 4 bucks more a month. Not bad..

- I'm seeing someone at the moment. I don't want to say too much cause it's nothing official or anything yet, but we have lots of fun and I'm really happy I'm seeing her =)

On another note, I'm gonna be going to the clinic to give blood on Friday morning. The whole thing came about after hearing from Elena that she did it on a regular basis. The thing that got to me most was that she was so non-chalant about the thing, although she did it once every week. The more I think of it, the less of a big deal the whole thing really is compared to what people view it as. You make an appointment, take the LRT, and do your thing.

The commercials are definitely influential and everything, but I think they put the wrong spin on the whole task. Although they make you feel guilty for not giving blood and work for the most part, there are others out there who hate the guilt trip. The way I see it, if you're the most selfish person in the world and you're against sharing your lifeblood with anyone else, you can consider giving blood as a savings account. I thought about the whole need for blood: whose to say if and when one of us whose abundant in the stuff, one day gets into a horrible accident and needs that blood. If we had donated blood previously, then there'd be a better chance of us receiving what we need. So in essence, because my body can make blood abundantly at the moment, I could potentially be storing blood that I need in the future. I'm probably wrong in the assumption that you could receive your own blood, with the whole blood types science of it all, but I still think it's a funky idea.

Still though, it would seriously suck if I came into an accident where I wasn't severely injured, but I needed lots of blood that wasn't there for me. I hope for it to be a good experience that I can commit to more than once. Also, I'm going with a fine bunch of ladies AND they give me a cookie from Cookies By George after! Sweet deal..
