That's Blogtastic! (looks at the camera with two thumbs up)
Conan O'Brien sketch reference.. Anyone???
Come on.........HEY!
MVC2 reference there. Ahh there ya go, people caught that one! Hehe that reminds me of a moment I had today when I was studying today at Tim Horton's with Chris. I don't remember where this conversation came from, but it reached a certain point in the conversation where he totally set me up inadvertantly:
Chris: "It's all the same.."
Dev: "Only the names will change!!! Everyday, it seems we're wasting away...."
Rockband reference? Anyone? Inside jokes are fun... Anyhow, by the looks of how this blog has started it's gonna be another long one..
So I've been updating my blog a whole crap load these last few days. Why? I don't know, maybe I have a bunch of crap to say. I think it has to do with my free time and the interesting stuff that I come across. I'm just glad to see that some people still read the blog and that I'm not just writing to myself (ghost writer style!). And it's a bonus to see that some people can relate to exactly how retarded Naruto can be whilst me coming off as mildly entertaining. I enjoy making people laugh, why is that? I think that's a whole other blog for a whole other time...
Today I had just remembered a while back that Chris had told me about this John Mayer blog that he apparently keeps updated frequently. Intrigued and bored, I went to check it out and I was pretty pleased with how down to earth John Mayer can be. In fact, I get that same impression from all of the celebrity blogs that I come across, yet it never ceases to shock me.
I'll highlight some of the specific cool stuff from his blog. If you have more time to kill, you can check it out for yourself. Again, I think the coolest part is that he seems down to earth like the rest of us. Whenever I read his blog and his writing style, it totally reminds me of Chris and what kind of things he'd write (very informal and conversation-like). I'll give you a couple of examples:
Chris' Blog:
'Uh... crap, this one is going to be a sports one... but hear me out.'
'Teach me how to play basketball Mr. Jordan.'
'I can't really remember what his name was... Kori something?
'This blog is brought to you by the fact that Chris can't seem to study... and has certain songs stuck in my head.'
'Ohhh... look at the fancy rings.'
'What really amazed was how a whole bunch of us have recently picked up a guitar! (Dammit you guys, I'm not special anymore...)'
(Sidenote: Dammit Chris, I couldn't find as many concrete examples of you blogging like I thought I could. Start blogging like you talk more. Add in a couple 'yays' and 'wee!')
John Mayer's Blog:
'Macbook Air... Yes, it really is as cool as it looks. Lean, mean lifestyle workstation...'
'It's probably not all that close to the actual recording. I'm too lazy to learn it for realz.'
'"She's got a body like an hourglass, it's ticking like a clock." Yay for words.'
'What the...COOL.'
Well that probably proved nothing. Fantastic... But he's down to earth! He's also posted a couple of cool pictures and videos. I'll start with this package he received (if anyone is still with me, I applaud you).
The first picture on the left is a package that John received outta nowhere. Then it show subsequently what is in the box, which would be Dark Knight Returns promotional gear. I don't know about you, but I'd be pretty psyched if I got some of that stuff in the mail out of the blue.
He also has this really cool video of himself playing a megasweet guitar riff. Here's John's rendition of it.
Does it sound familiar? Well that's because it's from one of Justin Timberlake's best songs from his latest CD. The track is titled 'Lovestoned/I Think She Knows', and it's right near the end of the song. Man this would be a whole lot easier if I figured out how to post videos on my blog.. Either way:
John Mayer + Wicked Guitar skills + One of my favorite tracks from 2007 = A completely satisfied Dev.
He did have one more really cool video. It seems like he's very optimistic about an up and coming group called Paramore. Never heard of them? Me neither, that is until I heard them perform one of their hits 'Misery Business'. For any of you keeners out there, this track is featured in the new NHL 08 video game and happens to be one of the songs I still don't mind hearing 20 times every time I sit down to play. I think they're played on the radio a bit too, but not as much as some other bands.
Yay I made a blog full of references, pictures, links and fun stuff. Now all I need are some footnotes*
*I had to open 7 separate Firefox tabs in order to complete this one blog. Yes, that's dedication my friend.. Nailed it!
