My Last Week on the Job

So this is my last official week working at Gateway Alliance Church as the bookkeeper. And to be honest, I can't wait!!

I'd say the job has all of its ups and downs like any other jobs. Unfortunately though, the job didn't quite suit me so much, so there seemed to be more downs than ups. I think it will just be nice to have the freedom to get any kind of job I want if I decide to work in the Fall. The greatest thing about that is being able to find a job where your work stays at work and you have a life of your own during the night time. I never really got a chance to do that with this job, as I think the hundreds of 'New' emails are left in my personal email address from work are a really good indicator of that.

I was thinking about a number of jobs that I could get depending on what I wanted to do. Here's a number of interesting ones I thought about:

1) Best Buy: I already worked at Futureshop and for the most part enjoyed it. I think that schedule wise it would work pretty well, the discount is terrific, and I already know some people working there at the moment. The main thing I would have against the job would be the hourly wage. I know with Futureshop at least, I made half as much per hour there as I do right now in my office job. Definitely a downside.

2) Club Fit: I figure I already have a gym membership there, if I worked there, the monthly membership fee would be free which would save me 30 bucks per month already. Also it would get me into the gym much more often, and it's a kind of job that I think I would enjoy although I don't quite know what the job requires. Scheduling would be interesting too, because if really needed I could take the graveyard late night / morning shifts. Some bad things I thought about were a possibly low hourly wage, and having to deal with angry people. I figure some Club Fit customers would be especially angry seeing as I'm already somewhat angry/frustrated with them and their deceptive advertising (Buy one year, get another year free).

3) Bouncing at Bar Wild: This is completely hypothetical. I never even really got offered a job to work there at all, and I have no idea if they are hiring. But I heard an advertisement about Cowboy's looking to hire staff, and this possibility instantly came to mind. I think it would be really exciting personally. I mean what isn't there to like about having that kind of authority, popularity with people, and job atmosphere. The money sounds really great as well! It amazes me everytime when I hear my brother talk about how much he's made from a night. Although a second look at it makes me rethink the whole thing as I hear a lot of stories from my brother and I don't completely agree with a majority of things they end up doing. It would be a tough juggling act between work and my own values. Needless to say, it'd definitely be a polar opposite as working at a church.

4) Blockbuster: Ahh an old favorite. When I used to work at Namao, it was a really cushy and easy job. The people were great, the free rents weren't shabby at all, and like I said before the work was ridiculously simple. The only few things that would concern me were the rate of pay and the latenight weekend hours.

So those are just a few possibilities I've been thinking about. It's pretty cool how everyone's hiring and there are so many different places you can decide to work at. I'll have to look through a few other places to see if anything interests me.

If you do think about Clubfit's graveyard shift there should/could be a premium of working night shift hours compared to day shift. Just a thought.
