Putting pen to paper

I'm not writing with any general theme or subject in mind. I just felt like I have some free time at the moment, and decided to blog about whatever.

So yeah Spiderman 3 sucked. I won't say much more about it because I'm sure some people still need to see it. I will say though that I've found a disturbing trend of crappy movies that Marvel has been coming out with in the last while. Let's start listing off the piles of crap that they've made in the last few years:

- Blade Trinity
- Spiderman 3
- Xmen 3
- Ghostrider
- Daredevil
- Elektra
- Fantastic Four

I'll admit that some suck way more than others. Also movies like The Hulk I haven't included in there because it was a hit and miss with fans. But honestly, my theory is that at some point of time after the release of Xmen 2 and Blade 2, someone from the DC comics branch snuck into a high-ranking position at Marvel Comics, and approved all of these horrible horrible movie ideas for release. You look at the timeline after Xmen 2 was released, and the only two good movies that Marvel came out with were Spiderman 2, and the Hulk (which is questionable as I mentioned earlier).

Hey speaking of crappy movies, Brett Ratner was the one who was infamous for screwing up the X3 movie. And as punishment for his brutal act, he's been given another 3rd of the series movie to screw up. Here's the trailer for Rush Hour 3 for those of you who haven't heard. I still don't understand why production companies decide to wait so many years to put out a sequel to a successful movie. I mean Rush Hour 2 was a great movie, but after 5-6 yrs, I don't see a bright future for this sequel. Who knows, I might be eating my words soon.

With Spiderman 3, I didn't think it would be even possible to mess a project up like that with the amount of funding that they received (most expensive motion picture ever), and the immense reputation that the Spiderman series is known for (especially the Venom subplot). But no, somehow Sam Raimi screws it up, even after his successful release of Spiderman 2. To sum up my complaints about it, I thought the movie tried to do too many things at the same time, where it should have focused on the part that everyone was most excited to see (the development of Venom).

Hmm what else.. Janine and Annette's party was fun today. Boo to those people who were invited and didn't come out or even reply. Boos and shuns all around! It's scary to think that I considered myself to be realy good at Taboo, just to find myself getting blown out of the water whenever I step foot anywhere around the Lemke Family. Those girls are freakin crazy...

Oh, also regarding that hard drive deal that I was going on about earlier. In the end, Tom let me use his Visa to order the hard drive. So happy times for me. I'm mainly worried though, that Tom's billing address for the card is different from the shipping address that I put for the order, so I think it looks suspicious to Futureshop and Visa. I guess it'll get sorted out when he gets a phone call.

I'm loving sports highlights at the moment. With the NBA and NHL playoffs in full swing, I'm almost always flipping between the sports channels to find the highlights from the game. I'd say that easily 80% of the time I'm actually watching TV these days, the channel would be on The Score or TSN or Sportsnet. The Score is my personally favorite of the 3 though, mainly because they don't take themselves too seriously. They like to have fun with their sportscasts, and they have funny guys like Cabbie who are totally entertaining to watch. Also, they cover the most NBA games out of the 3 channels. For anyone who doesn't watch the Score regularily, you should check out the Score 64 feature going on right now. Basically the network has taken what seems to be the cream of the crop for the best or most memorable highlights ever in all sports, and are pitting them against one another to see which is the best highlight of all time. What's great is that they often break down the physics of the play just to give you more appreciation of how tough the play really. There are some REALLY solid highlights in there, but personally I hope this one wins. You have to see it for yourself, no description in the world could give it the justice it deserves. Just amazing.
