Short attention span = Short update

I think I can pretty much speak for almost every person who has their own blog when I say it's quite a daunting task to make a long post. Especially in the world of multi-tasking today (ie: MSN messenger, online shopping, playlist management, ipod organizing, etc.), it's really tough to just sit down and write a huge spiel about what sometimes seems very trivial. Even though I'm at school more than an hour before my first class starts, I even find it hard to stay on task. Maybe it just feels too much like an essay. Because of this, even though I haven't blogged in a long while, I'm just gonna make it a short point formed summary on what's been going on with me lately.

- School: The usual: the midterms, the cramming, the neverending classes, it's all pretty standard.

- Work: I've been playing with the idea of going back to the position of Sales Associate. Right now I'm known as a 'Product Expert', someone who is purely on commmission and gets no base wage. Although I admit that I got much more money and attention with this approach during the holiday season, ever since the new year, it has completely slowed down to an almost grinding halt. And of course, this results in me being bitched at for my low numbers and percentages, and me making next to no money at all. My approach to the money making has always been to look at my 'opportunity cost', which is basically the wage I would have made as a Sales Associate (SA) in comparison to how much I actually made as a Product Expert (PE). Mathematically:

If PE earnings > SA earnings = Happy Devin
And this has been the case so far, at least until last friday. Now traffic is really dipping low, and I find myself with really crappy days. To give you an idea, I made .78 cents today for 5 hours and 15 min worth of work, and that .78 cents was all from my cashier friend ringing things through as me. So I don't think it'll be a hard decision as to what to do.
- Car: Lately as well, my dad has really been considering about the purchase of a new Toyota RAV4 for my mom. She always says that she would like a bigger vehicle to drive that was higher up so that she could see everything better. My dad's solution of course to any problem has to be another Toyota . :P Certainly, I don't mind this at all, as this brings me closer and closer to getting the old 99 Toyota Corolla from my mom. Well recently there have been some crucial developments. This includes the decision that my dad is gonna switch our insurance policy over to another company that is waaay cheaper than the rates we are getting already. This includes putting me as a primary driver for the Corolla. And just from the way that he's been referring to the cost as a total lump sum cost of all of our insurance policies put together, it sounds like he's gonna be paying for my insurance for the car as well, which is ubercool! Of course if he didn't, I'd totally put out that money because it'd be worth it. No final words on it though, so we'll see. It also seems like he's very close to choosing b/w two different RAV4 models for my mom, and could be making a decision as early as this weekend or next week. This means that I get the car that much quicker, and from again how he's talked about it, I'm gonna be getting the old car for free. So you can imagine that this is pretty exciting news to me. Although I don't necessarily have the extreme need for a car at the moment, it's one of those things that also symbolizes moving into the next phase of your life. So I'm excited to get this, and I'm also looking at installing a brand new sound system into the whole thing depending on the cost. We'll have to see more about that.
