It's been a long time since I've last blogged, so I'll cut right into the chase.

It really is strange how summer can appear so appealing and filled with promises when you're in the middle of writing your finals. And I know it's probably gonna end up the same way next year, but this year, Summer has really sucked I have to say so far. Of course, as usual, this is coming from a personal perspective. But the first half of my summer was effectively sucked up and eaten whole by World of Warcraft, and the relentless search for a summer job. Seeing as neither of the two seemed to work out well for me, you can tell why I'm slightly bitter about this summer thus far. I'll give World of Warcraft credit though, it is a fun and addictive game when given the chance, it's just with me personally it felt you had to constantly give it so much of your week, like a clingy possessive girlfriend. And I think I would have gotten more and more into it as I levelled up, but then it would effectively drained the life out of my free time.

Another thing that could be contributing to this failure of a summer break could be the paperwork and confusion associated with transferring into another post secondary for the next year. I didn't really think it would be so complicated, but there just seems to be so much timing conflicts with acceptances and registrations and such. Also the details of transferring the right amount of credits and registering for the correct faculty and stuff is enough to constitute it as taking summer courses. It really doesn't help with it being vacation season for all the advisors, and being left to talk to other not so knowledgeable individuals.

Enough about the bitterness, there has also been some really great stuff going on during the summer. I'm really really grateful at the fact that I decided to join my friends and family to their trip to Vancouver. I really don't know what those eight days would have been like being stuck at home as usual. Though it's not very friendly to the bank account to take a last minute vacation whilst being unemployed, I would say it was completely worth it. Again I apologize to those people who I wasn't able to find gifts for from B.C. As for anyone who wants to see pics from the trip, I'm in the process of putting all of the pictures onto my computer and burning them onto CD's, so just let me know if you'd like a copy. And from what I last heard, Kev has a 6 hour dvd full of our trip's experiences and that good stuff.

Another change of pace is coming up this weekend with the free fishing weekend out in Slave Lake. I'm kinda half and half with the idea of the trip, as I'm kinda travelled out at the moment, but I also know of the incredible boredom that comes with staying at home or in the city. With those kind of situations, the best thing to do is to just go with the flow.

Although the summer has been lacking so far, I like to look at it as a lesson in life. Personally I thought all of the pieces would just fall into place once I was done school, but I was horridly mistaken. It just goes to show that assuming can really bite you in the ass, HARD. And it also shows how fast summer can be over and we're stuck with our noses burried inside some textbooks.
