Ok ok, it's just about exam time and everyone is prepping up. As for me, I've decided to put this time to use in a long overdue blogging. When Tony blogs more often than you do, you know there's a problem :P

Anyway, this won't be structured seeing as it is fairly rushed, but I'll try my best to keep at it and write about exactly what's been going on with me without giving up and promising a 'real blog' next time. Here it goes.

Oh man, it's getting late, maybe I should.........nah I'm just kidding. Everything in the grand scheme of things has been great. School hasn't been too bad at all, and I've been able to pull the grades that I've needed with less straining than I anticipated. For anyone who I haven't bitched to, I need basically a 4.0 avg this semester to balance out my crappy last semester in order to get the competitive GPA to get to the U. And that's what's been consuming my life for the most part lately, the worry about getting into the U of A. I mean 4.0 is quite the stretch for anyone, but I just seem to not know when to quit. The way I figure is that if I still have that chance to get into the U of A, though it may be crazy far fetched, then hell, I'm gonna shoot for it anyhow. If I do make it, I can honestly say to anyone who tries to write off the whole effort "Shut the F&*^ up! I deserve to be here!"

As for my other options, those would include the U of L campus in Edmonton, or going back to Grant for another year. Now U of L isn't that bad of an alternative if you ask me. The same majors and courses are supplied, except with less of a GPA required. So basically when I first heard about the possibility, I almost said in my mind "SCORE! Sign me up!" But a few things make me feel leery (hehe rhymes with Larry) about the whole situation:

1) U of L campus in Edmonton mainly supplies night classes: So pretty much this would screw up any schedules that I've been used to for these last 2 years. Also there's the fact that it's located on Jasper Ave, right in the heart of downtown. Not the best time or location to bus from night after night.

2) A lesser degree: Now this one is objective. Everyone has their own opinion on whether or not U of A degrees count for more than a U of L degree. In my mind at least, formulated from the opinion of many other experts, a degree is just a degree. No matter where it comes from, it's always gonna say B. Comm on it, and that's what I'm going to add to my resume or business card. Very rarely do you see any business cards issued by professionals that state which University the degree was from or whatever. But also on a related note, if the option of getting a U of A degree is open, why not take it?

3) Making the parents proud: I think a big motivation for me as far as schooling as a whole has to do with my parents. I see it almost as a typical hollywood drama. The scene where the parents are seen first arriving into the foreign land by barge or whatever with the Statue of Liberty passing by in the background. Next it cuts to the birth of a baby boy, which brings tears to the eyes of the audience as they see the parents' overflowing joy. Then cut to the throwing of graduation hats in the air as the child graduates from the illustrious university in which the parents toiled so long at their jobs to finance, to see their son standing up their among the best. Okay okay, maybe not as dramatic as that, but you know what I mean. I think there's just that irreplacable feeling that you can give you parents when they can tell their friends: "Yeah, my son goes to the U of A, he's graduating this year with his degree." Instead of taking an easy second place.

That's mainly what's been on my mind with the whole school issue. Of course I'm gonna do whatever it takes to get the mark I need, but I'm also gonna take the precautions of making a Plan B and C in case things fall through. Because things don't always go as well as we'd like them sometimes.

Anyhow, I'm pretty much done blogging for today. Just on a side note, Monday night football will commence on the 25th of April. So I'll be calling around that day, and I'm hoping we can get a good crowd out regularily this summer! Good Luck to everyone with their finals, and let me know of any study days to the U or Grant if anyone is planning to go. I find I'm more focused when I'm with friends who are also studying :P

Seacrest Out.
