It's been quite a while since I've blogged, so I figured I may as well get it over with before I get lazy as usual.
Tons and tons of things have happened this past week, so I won't try to get into too much detail as to save your eyes from bleeding at the end of this long blog. Let's get it started.
First off, I got my new computer. It's a 2.41 GHZ AMD processor, with 120 GB, and 512 DDR RAM I believe. Also I got it with a new tower case and a Radeon 9600 Pro installed to the comp. Altogether, I paid 650 for the tower and the keyboard. Tack on the price for a 21" monitor ($275), a Samsung Laser all in one printer ($280), and a new microsoft optical mouse ($20), and you've got quite the hefty pricetag. What's worse is that I also recently purchased a new keyboard and case for a Palm pilot, both costing $150 altogether. As well I'll have to buy a new computer desk and extra long LAN cable if we're able to get internet connection to my room. Man, this is really gonna hurt when I have less time to work, and more time to study.
If you thought that was the end of my financial troubles, you're very wrong my man. I just realized that it's about 4-5 different ppl's birhtday this month, and it's gonna be gift time from the Bank of Dev. Fricken hell...........errr............I mean Happy Birthday?.....
Also on Tuesday, I worked my last shift at the bank. I'll be completely honest, I'm really gonna miss that job with it's nice pay, convenient hours, and extra friendly staff. I ended up bringing in noodles and springrolls for lunch for the entire bank that last day, and I think everyone enjoyed it. What I'm really hoping is that they'll want me back for the holidays, so I can work off some of my expenditures. Going back to work part-time at Blockbuster just doesn't cut it anymore... Oh yes, and as a parting gift, the other bank tellers bought me a gift bag full of goodies and not so goodies. In the bag was some toys bought from the local dollar store. One that really stood out and made me laugh was play cash and a toy safe to store the cash. It read that it "Teaches you how to count while having fun!" Kind of an inside joke, but basically I used to miscount my cash every so often and mess things up. End of story. Other than that, there was a kite, and LOTS of booze. So I'll have to find someone to help me drink some of those shot bottles.
As well this week, the Olympics ended and regular television ensued. What makes me kinda angry about it is that first of all I missed the season premiere of my favorite show "Scrubs." And second, the fact that it's stirred up a big discussion about whether Canada should finance their athletes more. It's not that I have a specific perspective on the issue, it's just that no matter how much debate there will be about it, everyone knows that Canada won't up their funds for them dramatically anyhow. So why not just forget it and talk about something more useful/entertaining on the radio?
Another show that's also premiered this past week was the third season of "Last Comic Standing." For anyone who doesn't usually watch that show, I would really recommend it if you're in the mood for some good laughes. But yeah again, I haven't been able to keep up with that program as well, so that's kinda FUBAR.
I also registered for school this week as many others did I'm sure. But I'll get into school another time.
And finally, I got my graduated driver's license! Man that doesn't sound as big as getting a normal driver's license, frick. I hate you GDL! Anyway, I took the test on Saturday morning, after my brush-up lesson with my instructor. It was pretty ironic in the fact that the whole morning was cloudy, yet not rainy with my instructor. But the second I start the car with the tester, there comes the rain! Well, at least it wasn't much, but that was just a bad omen. And also right off the beginning, my instructor asked me if I was good at parking. So of course I'm not gonna say "No I fricken suck, I don't know what the hell I'm doing half the time.." and I say that I'm pretty good. After I tell her that, right away she tells me to do a parallel park with a car that's 15 meters away from our parking spot. The most dreaded and useless of the parks, and I have to do that right at the beginning of the test!
Thankfully I didn't buckle under the pressure, and I did it bang on. And pretty much from there it was a breeze. The only real thing that bugged me was that at one point I got stuck behind a Bicyclist. Old bastard........ it wasn't as if he was cycling right down the middle of the road to be an ass, but he cycled just far enough from the curb to be a bitch. I was so nervous because I had no idea whether I should pass the guy, or go his slowassed pace. Again, thankfully the instructor understood my situation, and told me to pass the guy when it was safe.
What's funny about the entire exam was that I was so paranoid throughout the course of it. Here I am driving, and doing all the things that I'm supposed to do as a driver, at least I thought I was, until I saw my examiner writing a whole bunch of crap on the paper every so often. I just kept asking myself "WHAT IN THE HELL COULD SHE BE WRITING?!" I thought that it couldn't be ticks for good effort or numbers or anything of that sort, because they were long writing periods. I knew it had to be some kind of comments. So when I parked back at the school, as I was a nervous wreck to hear all the comments she had written down, she just said to me "This won't take too long. Short story." as she pointed to a zero for deductions. My heart rate fell about 300 beats, and I asked her what she had been writing the entire time, and she just said she was filling out my information for the document (ie my name, address, phone number). Frick...
Anyway, that should pretty much bring me up to speed for everything that's happened for this week. Oh yeah, I just finished watching "The Punisher" on DVD. And I'll say, despite many crappy reviews and criticism, I really enjoyed the movie. The director and cast had tons of fun with the picture, and didn't take themselves too seriously. I really enjoyed the actor who played the part of Punisher (Tom Jane), and it was really a solid movie in terms of action. I'd recommend it to others to watch.
