Another thing was just brought to my attention as I wasted today away. It appears that CN Rail (my dad's workplace) is on strike. CN is having a strike ALL ACROSS Canada! That is one HUGE ass strike if you ask me. But what's kinda cool about it though is the fact that my dad supports the strike and is bold enough to go along with it. This is kinda strange to me as asian parents have been traditionally known to just take what they're given at work and make the best of it without any complaints. Maybe that's just my belief, but I've noticed that kind of thing in the past. Now strikes are regularily a scary thing when they are actually underway, because lack of income can cause some MAJOR lifestyle changes in the household and almost makes the family stronger as a whole. But fortunately, we're lucky enough for our dad to have had saved enough in the past to not make it a problem at all. I mean, our mortgage is paid for on the house, and there's really no HUGE expenses that we have, so really it's not such a big deal around our house. I mean ultimately, I think this strike just gives my dad more fishing time out at the lakes =)
What I'm trying to say is, that even though strikes in the past can cause a huge impact on families, it's really makes no difference to us thanks to the fortunes my dad has saved over the years. It's a really weird feeling to think that my dad is technically unemployed right now, and that everything is alright, and at the same time, it makes me look upon all of the stuff that we've been given and truly be grateful for all of our fortunes of today.
Anyhow my dad is doing the picketing line starting at 6-10 P.M., so I hope that tonight isn't very cold out. For all of those who're keeping track of the development of this news incident, my dad says that it shouldn't last for more than 1-2 weeks.
