I just thought I'd write about something that's been just blowing my mind for the last 2 years when I first realized it. I'm probably just a big idiot for not realizing it earlier, but when you do realize it, lemme tell ya, it opens your eyes to lots of new ideas. Anyhow here it goes.....
Now I'm sure that everyone has atleast one childhood friend (besides Tony lol, j/k. I'm so unnecessarily mean to that guy, and I don't know why...) that they have lost contact with at some point of their life. And of course, there would be atleast one point in your life when you finally have the time to ponder "I wonder what he/she is up to nowadays...." Don't get me wrong, this isn't the thing that I JUST learnt about 2 years ago, or else I wouldn't have the intelligence to even open internet explorer to make this post to begin with... The main occurance that happens when pondering about lost contacts, is that us as the individual doing the pondering tend to just focus on pondering about the whereabouts of one individual at a time. Now this next idea may be a little trippy, so I'll put it in the next paragraph...
This can be seen as when ppl ponder about where movie stars have been for so long when they suddenly stop making movies/tv shows. Now unconciously and not on purpose, we begin to classify that star almost in a dead state or frozen in time... We think that once that person has done making his last hit movie, Hollywood almost puts him away on a shelf for later use. Little do we think that he may be living his own life and be doing many ordinary things that we do. It is through this thinking that we begin to imagine movies stars as just movie stars moving from movie to movie and just constantly working and not as ordinary ppl. Have you ever stopped to think that right at THIS MOMENT, Brad Pitt would be having a late night snack right now, just sitting at his kitchen table, and doing nothing extraordinary, but eating some chicken....
Now this kind of thinking can be applied to everyone in the world. A lot of the times, the human minds likes to think of ourselves as individuals as being the only ones that are working within the boundaries of time. But when you really think about it, there are trillions and trillions of ppl doing ALL kinds of stuff, and in ALL kinds of situations.
The next time you have some free time, try this. Begin to wonder about what one of your past friends is up to nowadays... Now don't limit yourself to thinking about what they're ACTUALLY DOING at the moment, but think of what may be on their minds, what kind of priorities they have, and what kind of stresses they may be under. Now once you think of how complex their lives may be, try applying that to EVERYONE on the entire planet! I think that this kind of thinking lets us stop thinking about others in the entire world as just animals that DO things because they have to, but just as intellectual as us, and emotional as we can be.....
I came up with such a way of thinking when I started to really ask myself, I wonder what a certain celebrity is doing, not this year, not this month, not this week, but RIGHT NOW as I'm thinking. And the answer was simple, they were most likely doing things that they need to do to satisfy their basic needs like us. Like sleeping, eating, talking with others, and falling into deep thought about everything. Much of the time we like to classify celebrities as almost superhuman, not needing to fulfill any of the human needs that we need to survive. But in reality, they're just like us! They need to stop what they're doing at times to eat, they need a good night's rest, and they need constant thought to keep them going...
Anyhow, that's my spiel on that whole topic. I hope I wasn't the only one that just realized that... cause then I'd feel really stupid :P
